Leah’s Pantry Cooking Parties

Good Food, an Important Cause and a New Skill!

Welcome friends to your home to prepare a meal together, or even to share wine and appetizers. Using a unique web page, invite friends to donate to Leah’s Pantry in advance – the donation amount is up to you. In addition to sharing a tasty meal with your guests, Leah’s Pantry staff can visit your event to share our story and facilitate a quick and fun activity. Your guests will leave with delicious memories and new skills or ideas. Help us raise $4,000 from Cooking Parties by the end of 2016. Host a cooking party for book club, your birthday, a holiday, or Sunday Brunch. Oh the options.

How do I host a cooking party?

  1. Become a host. Click the "Become a fundraising" to create your host page.

  2. Invite. Set a date and time for the cooking party, and invite your friends.

  3. Plan. Contact Leah’s Pantry for event advice and to coordinate a short and sweet activity, if desired. Prep and shop for the event.

  4. Party. Host the cooking party and have fun! Don’t forget to take some pictures.

What if I don’t like to cook or I don’t have very much time?
No problem!  We can help choose a menu that your guests prepare themselves. Or you can host appetizers and wine, or put something in the slow cooker in the morning. Leah’s Pantry is happy to brainstorm event and meal ideas that fit your lifestyle and needs.

What is the suggested donation?
That is up to you! Leah’s Pantry wants to build relationships, increase awareness of our mission, and also raise money. We suggest between $35-75, depending on the meal and your guests.

What's the story on these fun activities that Leah's Pantry can facilitate? If you live in San Francisco or San Diego and raise at least $300, a Leah's Pantry staff member can drop by to lead a short and sweet (20-30 minute) lesson. This is completely optional; our presence in up to you! Examples of activities include:

  • Cooking lesson on: recipes from around the world, kid-friendly meals, etc. #realfood
  • Tips for cooking with kids and teens #kidsinthekitchen
  • Food photography mini-lesson #instafoodshouldlookgood
  • How to host a stress-free dinner party #partyplanner
  • Discussion about local food and health topics #eatlocal
